I have recently been looking for a new computer to use for gaming and photoshop, I have recently found one that is suitable for my use and one additional feature that I noticed was that it had a tv tuner built in. Now I would say that I'm very cleaver when it comes to technical things like this but this one baffles my a bit. If I put the aerial cable into the computer would I just have to go into a app that would then bring me the list of channels to watch instantly or us there more to it? My house runs on aerial but I'm not sure because I could do with some more money towards the computer and selling my current tv would definitely help towards it. The computer I'm getting is the lenovo ideacentre c560 i7 if it helps.
Could a tv tuner on my new computer replace my tv?

Yes. Make sure that the tuner that you purchase is compatible with your broadcast standards (NTSC, PAL, etc.). Although the tuner itself may have the program guide, Windows 7 include Windows media center, which is excellent. I have a dedicated Windows Media Center computer set-up with a tuner card and I receive local over the air (OTA) broadcasts in HD.
