Which of these would you buy?

I'm looking for a pc for $500 or less. I'm not a gamer. Don't do video editing.
Would like the pc to last 5 years or more.

Which of the following computers would you buy?

I'm open to other suggestions and ideas.

Do I need to be concerned with buying a computer with Windows 7 instead of Windows 8? Most people decided to upgrade their pcs if they had Windows XP. Don't want to get a pc with Windows 7 and need to upgrade in a year or 2 if support for Windows 7 stops.

If your main concern is that your PC lasts a long time then make sure you get the latest processor so it can keep up with new software. It's always a good idea to get the latest software but if windows 8 puts you over you budget try loading linux onto it if you're dissatisfied with windows 7. I would recommend getting it directly off of Dell or HP's website so you don't have to pay for anything you don't want. Maybe wait for Black Friday or Cyber Monday. Also be sure to get a 64 bit architecture.

I've read far too many reviews from people hating Windows 8
I would stick with 7

Windows 7 - Mainstream Support Vs. Extended Support

On 13 January 2015 Windows 7's 'Mainstream Support' will come to an end. That means no new Service Packs or features will be released. This is wholly different from the end of 'Extended Support' which is what happened to Windows XP on 8 April 2014.

Extended Support is the big one: no more security patches when hackers find holes, no performance improvements, nothing - the OS is effectively dead. Windows 7 Extended Support will not end until 14 January 2020. For comparison Windows XP Mainstream Support ended back on 8 April 2009.

Consequently most can breathe a sigh of relief, especially with Windows 7 currently running on over 50% of PCs around the world. If Windows XP was hard to kill, Windows 7 is likely to be even harder.
