If I'm using the display, there's nothing I can do; I simply have to refresh the page and find where I was. If I'm connected to a monitor or TV, removing the hdmi and then plugging it back in resets it and I can continue, but that's not a sustainable fix, especially when it's still within warranty. I suspect it's an update/software issue, but any troubleshooting help would be very much appreciated
I have a Lenovo Y700, and whenever I try to play a movie or long video, it will start a slow stutter that renders it unwatchable and silent?

What are you using for software to play the video with? Try VLC. The Lenovo should be able to handle video. Are you streaming the video? Then it may be your Wi-Fi connection is too slow.
