Connecting old mixer to new laptop?

Simply put, I used to record a podcast with a laptop that had the standard headphone and mic inputs. New laptop has the headset input, making the old RCA to 3.55mm cable set-up either more complicated or entirely impossible. Is there anyway I can still record with this particular mixer and laptop?

You can get a headset adapter that just breaks out the headset connector into the two separate inputs. Dead cheap on ebay!

You split the laptop 3.5mm into microphone and headphone with various versions like this:

Make sure it is a 4 pin to two three pin mic/headphone split rather than a plain splitter.
Then you need RCA to 3.5mm

They each come at various price and quality and cable versus connector-adapter versions and are available at many companies.
This common thing is NOT correct

The 4 pin is sometimes called TRRS 3.5mm and they used to have an audio-video splitting of 3.5mm 4 pin into RCA Audio stereo and a video composite yellow rca.
Not sure this would be appropriate or not
