I got a lenovo T420 with i5 processor (2.50 Ghz), 4gb ddr3 ram, windows 8 64-bit and Intel HD graphics 3000. Whenever i play dota 2 on it, it's not like there are lags or something, it's just some kind of delay. The hero takes some time in responding (It reduces when i attach my lapi to an external LCD). If i look at my P4 PC, it works fine there and it only got 2gb DDR1 ram and 128mb gpu but this pc spikes cuz its just runing the game at minimum specs. In order to check my internet i tried runing it on my other 6core AMD with amd 6800HD gpu and 16gb ddr3 ram and it worked worked as butter, not even a slight miss from hand in the entire match. I've tried several servers to check it but i can even play overseas on my amd but the lapi delays everywhere. I was just wondering that can i P4 be better than i5 for dota 2? And if there's anyway i can fix this delay on my lapi please tell me that.
Dota 2 delaying on laptop?
So the problem can stem from 2 different areas:
1. Network
2. Hardware/Driver
For potential problem 1 - Network
a. Try disabling your antivirus and firewall while playing to see what the actual problem is
b. Make sure you're not running more than 1 firewall and 1 antivirus
c. Make sure your firewall is allowing Dota 2
d. Make sure your router is configured to allow Dota 2 ip address port forwarding
e. Try a different network game to see if that lag still exists.
For potential problem 2 - Hardware
a. Make sure all your drivers are up to date. (Device Manager -> Make sure nothing has a question mark)
b, Make sure your graphics card's driver is up-to-date
c. Try cleaning the dust/debris from your graphics card to allow optimal air flow
d. Make sure your ram sticks are in all the way (so that you don't see the golden connectors)
e. Did you overclock/tweak your computer? Make sure your bios settings on system defaults and save. (not optimized defaults).
