Good Gaming and school work laptop?

So I'm going into highschool next year, and one of the things I'll definitely is a laptop. However, I also really love to play video games, so I was looking to buy a laptop that is really good for gaming, but it has to be better at school work. Also, I'd like it to be around 1000$ or less, and my parents won't let me get a laptop that is called a "gaming" laptop, because they'd think is only use it for games, so I'd want one that isn't a "gaming" laptop, but I can still play games like: mine craft, TF2, League of Legends, etc. I currently have a low grade asus laptop, but I'm looking to get rid of it because it is slow, lots of popups, and lots of issues with things I'd like to do. I've had it for 2 years.

Restrictions are a nuisance.
First, about your current laptop, install ccleaner and run that, and then a good virus cleaner like malwarebytes, then add a different web browser and try uninstalling then reinstalling the current one you have to try to clean it up.

About a new laptop, games you show do well on almost any new laptop; say a full laptop voltage core i3 3rd generation or higher.
You can look at Lenovo.com for direct purchase specials and if a student you can try to seek the student portal for a small discount.

Suppose, if USA, you start at Newegg.com who is a very good seller and sales tax only in CA, NJ, TN
Get to all laptops. Choose lowest price sort and view 100 at a time. Slide to 1920x1080 or better to get a high resolution screen and at least 14" for a reasonable screen size. Top price down to $1030 shows 41 laptops. Subtracting or ignoring out of stock or refurb or open box, yields 19 laptops to $1,018.99.
General gaming by the graphics card

CPU power:

Maybe the i3-4005U is a little weak on the Sony, but the i5-4200U on a few is a bare minimum. Faster is preferred.
This Asus seems to have an enclosed battery instead of customer replaceable, which is common now but is disappointing:

At only $680 with a free BF4 A10-5750M, 8670M (actually a dual graphics, but that doesn't help much, but on battery runs HD 8650G which is still good beating all the Intel)
It doesn't look like a gaming laptop and reasonable 5.1 pounds, and your parents will think it is a good price if offering $1000.

Lenovo Y510p is a gaming laptop with a red backlit keyboard. Would parents approve of it?
Lenovo Z710 is a bigger unit and some have strong CPU and graphics cards, but it is not a "gaming laptop", it is a big screen with clear images (1080p), and happens to have a good graphics card.
Watch the Y510p for the single gpu with an optical drive vs the SLI 2 graphics card versions that are higher in gaming.
At the high end, if not a Y510p
An MSI that looks more like a gaming laptop, because it is one, with a GTX 765M and Core i7, the newest games play well:

But, if they are watiching for the appearance,
This Asus, a bit heavier, is not as decorative

and is a solid build with a 1 year damage warranty included, and GTX 760M has the older games you show maxed out, and plays new games very well.
See the chart for gaming.

Since the games you show max out on HD 4000 more or less, you just get faster play with stronger graphics. Only that low voltage i3 goes into question because you need the CPU.
If Windows 8 is not great, install Classicshell.net like I did, and it makes the system like Windows 7.
