How to I go from VGA on my laptop to HDMI on my tv?

I have a new lenovo thinkpad w540 and it has VGA out but my LG tv has HDMI in. I did some research and basically found out that they don't work together because ones digital and ones analog but someone has to have found a good way to do it. All the converters i found online show the laptop as having the hdmi and the tv with the vga, will those converters still work even if its reversed or at all. I also saw that the vga to hdmi cables can work if your graphics card supports digital through the vga port, is that true and if so would it work for me, my graphics card is just the standard one it comes with. If anyone has a surefire way to do it let me know.

Look at the following link as an example.

If you google VGA to HDMI adapters you will get other options.
HDMI as well as the digital signal include the sound as well so as VGA does not include sound it has to be introduced from the headphone output. The cable for this is included with the adapter in most cases.
Thanks for doing your own research most don't on here. As to the VGA having digital included I have not come across any VGA output on a P.C /laptop that has this
I have never used this adapter but no reason why it should not be O.K

I would purchase a USB to HDMI adapter. Most people don't know this, but you can get Video Out using your USB connection on your laptop. You need an adapter to make this happen, but it works nicely. I recommend getting this one:

I currently use this device to have 3 monitors (Laptop)(VGA Monitor from laptop)(USB to HDMI Monitor from laptop).
