How to reset a Lenovo IdeaPad with Windows 7?

I need to do a hard reset on my Lenovo IdeaPad. I've been searching up answers and found helpful articles but none of them worked. I think the problem is that the laptop is secured under the DOE (Department of Education). For anyone concerned, I did not steal or had someone steal the laptop for me from any school. A family member worked at a school here in New York and was given the laptop since it's pretty old. Is there any way to reset the laptop to factory settings so there isn't any DOE security on it anymore?

Nobody is given public property. Nobody has the right to give away public property. It is stolen.

Microsoft no longer support windows 7, They stopped supporting it two years ago, when they released window 8. And from the 29th of this month when W10 is released all users will be forced onto that. Now is the time for you to learn about other Free Operating systems and Free Software,

Reset… One does not do that… F-disk it…( destroy the partitions… Total erase the hard drive )… Re-partition / reformat and then reinstall an OS…

This is-s-s-s if what you are saying is true as to how you came about this piece of equiptment…

Oh but wait… You need a legal copy of windows, you need all the drivers for that laptop… Motherboard drivers… Network adapter drivers… Video card drivers… Sound card drivers…

Have fun…
