I have a lenovo laptop. It is about 4 years old. But when i turn it on the lights turn on but after a few seconds the fan stops and the lights go out and the screen just stays blank. I have tried everything. Everything i have is on it. Can anybody help.

Not sure if that's the problem but it's time to clean heatsink which is probably clogged with dust after 4 years. Just blast the dust loose from the exit of the heatsink then vacuum the dust off from the other end (where the fan is).

I had the exact same problem and what is causing it was over heating within 5 minutes, so my
fan needed cleaning so I cleaned it good and gave it a very tiny shot of oil (the hole
is under the label) but it did no good the fan still runs but I suspect
it just to old, so what I do is put an very small fan under it when I
run it and it works great and never turns itself off now.
I have to put it up on a small rack first and the fan under the rack
and the computer.
You can buy an stand that has a built in fan, but I'm too cheap
to get one, besides I only use it for home.
