Is this a good deal for a laptop?

I'm buying a new Laptop and was wondering if it's worth it, anyways here are the specs:

Intel Core i5-4200U Processor 1.6 Ghz up to 2.6Ghz
6 Gigs of RAM
750 GB HDD
17'3 HD (900p display)
OS is Windows 8 I think
+ all the standar stuff (USB ports ect)

The offer was for around $1000 do you guys think that is a fair deal or over/under priced.

Just as some extra info… I'm big into gaming/movies as well as needing the laptop for standard work.

Thanks in Advance for the help.

Added (1). Sorry forgot to mention… It has something called a WLED with Truelife (1600x900)

My mistake

Is that possibly the graphics card?

The WLED 1600*900 is the screen. That resolution, 1600*900 is better than most.

Here is a machine with basically the same specs but a 1TB HDD and made by Lenovo, the top Windows laptop mfg for $400 less than that.

However, neither the one you are asking about nor this one would be good for a gamer.
These would be better choices as both have a discrete graphics card which is a must for a gaming laptop:

Intel and Gaming do not belong in the same sentence.

Graphics can be identified, they will look something like one of these:

Look towards the right center, LOTS of video card types listed, each one falls into a Class, or how powerful the GPU is.
Scroll to the botom to get the performance marks.
Older articles are a little bit biased against ATI, but its a good place to look to get a general idea of what to expect and most importantly WHAT TO LOOK FOR and what NOT to look for.

The general idea is to get the Laptop with the best minimal speed GPU in your price range.
Generally a GOOD entry level gaming laptop starts at about 650$, it will be either Intel+Nvidia or AMD APU+ATI dual GPU laptop.

But I generally like ATI over Nvidia because I do my gaming with my laptop on my lap and Nvidia likes to run to hot for my legs.
Never had a burn from ATI/AMD so thats my personal 5 cents on the subject.

An APU is CPU+GPU on a single chip for reference sake.

For about 1000$ you can find a refurbished all AMD MSI Gaming laptop on Amazon and its a really good bang for the buck MSI GX60 Destroyer

Looks like I can't find their refurbs, This is considered a true, dedicated gaming laptop with all the bells and whistles.
Make note the 1920 x 1080 screen resolution, if i'm not mistaken MSI uses Acer manufactured screens (Acer makes some 60% of the worlds LCD screens for every one who didn't know)

Generally HP Makes good dual GPU AMD laptops, you just have to catch them when their offering a good sale on one of them, just wait right before a major holiday or a tech company releases news is when they offer serious % off.

The most important thing to care about in laptop gaming is graphics cards as they are the weakest link in laptops. Intel inbuilt graphics, though present are not meant for gaming. So, best course of action is to get at least a 2 GB graphics card (because 1 GB graphics in many laptops are too weak to run enough games, if you are hardcore into gaming).
Look for gaming performance on all laptop graphics on this website: notebookcheck.net (scroll down at the bottom, you'll find some links about articles)

Need to find out what Video Card is in the Laptop. Video Card is main part and costs the most of any part. Plus that 17 inch screen is a bit costly. Get a smaller laptop screen to save a lot of money.

That computer is not good deal. Look at just one example of a laptop that beats that laptop (again still do not know what video card is in your example):

The biggest problem I see here, is that there's no Graphics card, and intel integrated graphics are abysmal, so no, I wouldn't say its worth it.
