The Lenovo Y510p is considered an excellent value for a gaming laptop.

Gaming performance:

The SLI versions do get hot as any high performance gaming laptop and it is recommended to use a cooling pad. You also use gaming plugged into AC rather than on battery for all gaming laptops.

The flaw is that there were some problems with the trackpad, but most gamers use a mouse anyway. The one you get may or may not have a trackpad issue and is under warranty.

There are LCD versions to consider. It is not recommended to get the x768 display. 1080p is important in a good gaming laptop. Within the 1080p is glare wedge(glossy) and anti-glare. The glare screen is very reflective to overhead or lighting behind you but is known for its high gamat (high color reproduction). Complaints by some people has Lenovo adding an anti-glare coating but they won't offer the anti-reflective used in office laptops as it loses crispness of colors.

The HDD's are generally all 1TB in size, but there's small cache, 8GB Cache, and 24GB cache. More cache is for acceleration of the HDD and not for user access as an SSD.

The battery has also been improved in later production. The new ones use 72 watt hour vs I think 58 on the older ones.

8GB RAM is sufficient. I7 is recommended and is the full quad core versions at high clock setting.

Some have improved wireless.

You get a strong price-performance, but there are weaknesses to get a strong gaming laptop at the price point.

Spec's look good, so yes it will run most modern games but be sure to always check the games system requirements and compare to the laptop as to processor and graphic card chip set before buying and installing a game.

I've just ordered this laptop but they all seem different because mine as gt755 SLI and a few other different specs

It looks good, but i would always recommend a desktop for gaming.

Looks like it, my Lenovo y400 is awesome for gaming.
