I got a new laptop (Lenovo G50-45) which came with Windows 8. I used it for a few hours on my TV no problem, then I upgraded to Windows 10 and now when I plus my laptop into the TV via the same HDMI cable the display is too large. I can't see the top, bottom, or far sides and I can't figure out how to fix it.
Laptop display won't fit TV screen properly?
Rt click on the desktop of the TV and choose display settings, advanced settings
Change the resolution and see if that helps
Alternatively look in the graphics control panel and see if the is an underscan or overscan option
I have tried that, the issue stays the same. The screen is just slightly to large for everything to be displayed properly.
You can change the display resolution/dpi in Win 10 to fit the TV. The 8.1 resolution was set to a size that just happened to fit the TV. Also, you can change the screen size on the TV such as zoom-full-overscan, etc.
You need to change your computers overscan settings to properly fit your screen. Down in you system tray there's usually a utility for your video card nVidia GeForce, Intel Graphics or AMD Catalyst. Within that control panel are the overscan settings. I can't be more specific as they each make their own program with different layouts.
The system tray is normally in your Taskbar at the bottom of your screen. In the right hand corner behind a small expandable arrow.
It will not be there after upgrading to Windows 10 or if you manually disabled the startup item. In which case find out the video card you have and download the appropriate driver first.
