Lenovo G500s battery reduces to 58% in less than an hour?

I purchased Lenovo G500s laptop 2 months back and I use Windows 8.
Today my laptop was charged to 99% and then I ran it on battery, brightness around half the bar that we see when we change the setting.

Battery setting I'm using is:
Power Plan - Balanced
Battery - Max Battery Life
Hard Disk Power Saver - On

I removed the laptop from charging at 3:24pm and at 4:10pm it shows 1hr 13 min, 55% remaining.

I was using Firefox to check my mails and anti-virus software doing system scan.

I've not worked much on any laptop so have no idea if the battery going down so soon is normal or not.

Thank you a lot for the replies. Yes, about 2hrs. I wish I could get more time but was really worried that there was something wrong with the laptop.

Sounds about right to be honest.

on the balanced profile, it simply means it will turn to power saver when the laptop does not need much power and then to maximum performance when it needs more power.

'Max Battery Life' means your laptop will charge the battery to 100%, 'Best Battery health' will charge to 50% and extend the life of the battery from 2 years to more than 2 years.

if you want the most out of the battery, click on the battery icon, select (i think) 'more power options' and then you can select 'best/max battery life' if it's there or power saver, this will drastically lower the performance of the laptop, but will give you the max battery life.

my Lenovo Z570 gets about 2 hours on normal mode and 4hours 30minutes in max battery life.

There are a number of explanations, but primarily, do you get two hours of running time when all is said and done?
