What the? Just bought a laptop -Lenovo Yoga for my daughter and it has a label on the box saying "WARNING - this product contains a chemical known to the state of California to cause Cancer and birth defects" I contacted Lenovo, and they said it is required by law in California if there's a significant risk of exposure to chemicals on this list. Googling gave me the story of another guy who was given the warning with his Lenovo Thinkpad power cord and it turns out his power cord had lead in it. It said for him to wash hands after use. Does anyone know is this exclusive to Lenovo Laptops? They can't tell me what exposure exactly my daughter would have. Its going straight back to the shop anyway, as my daughter is only 7 but anyone else have this warning with other makes?
Lenovo Laptop cancer warning. Is this on every laptop box?
It seems everything has stickers proclaiming California's knowledge of what causes cancer. They have to put those stickers on it or California won't let them sell it in their state.
Thank you… I have looked into it more and apparently most laptops are toxic. Mercury in the screens, lead in the wiring and toxins in the plastics and battery. I can't knowingly hand this to my daughter whom I know won't wash her hands after handling the lead and probably take it every where she goes. This is all without the potential dangers of putting it on her legs or WI-FI risk if there's one. I'm not a chemical hippy freak, but its worrying when they plaster a big sticker on a product you buy for your kid. I'm researching now and finding out Lenovo manufacture their products in china and are one of the worst culprits for toxins in their products. However ACER have brought out a Timeline range of less toxic PC s.
What cancer causing chemicals are in my new yoga pro 3
Does anyone have any update on this? I'm just trying to find out what exactly is the cancer causing chemical and where it's located. Can it be something with the plastic panel around the screen?
Lenovo Legion? Really, as in legion of cancer cells? I am so disturbed after reading the warning on Walmart. I was going to by Lenovo and i'm glad I read your story. Although, I am not sure of the chemical other than lead, I thank you for posting this and hopefully the entire Lenovo line of computers gets shut down. No wonder the laptops are so cheap…
HP said they are in compliance with cali prop 65… That's what I will buy! Asus is also a cancer causer. So proud of you sir! We must save ourselves, so that we can save our children!
