Both seem like the best options for a gaming laptop below 1200 dollars. Been saving up for a few months. Which laptop do you think is better?
Lenovo Legion y520 or Acer aspire vx 15?
They both pretty much look the same. Just make sure you buy the model with 16gb ram. I don't suggest 8 gb for gaming
If that laptop uses ssd then there's ssd write limit.
samsung 840 ssd starts to fail after 300 terabytes of writes, maybe fail completely after 700 terabytes.

'Errors didn't strike the Samsung 840 Series until after 300TB of writes, and it took over 700TB to induce the first failures. The fact that the 840 Pro exceeded 2.4PB is nothing short of amazing'

if that laptop uses platter harddisk then heat and being shaken
while powered-on can reduce lifespan of platter harddisk.
source: 'any orientation, however, the most common orientation is with the circuit board down',
'can be fitted sideways or upside down. As long as they are not moved during use and get enough cooling, it is irrelevant in which direction they are mounted'

ssd run better in hot temperature
source:
'My benchmark results saw wild fluctuations and I could not understand why. As it turns out the drive is also sensitive to heat, and not in the way you might expect: the drive actually works better the hotter it is!'
