My sound is not working on lenovo laptop?

Might be a broken audio port that suffered too many sideways yanks of a headphones cord?
Might be the audio driver for whatever audio system, whatever operating system (Windows something?) of that model Lenovo. Could be set for HDMI port output?
Might be on mute?
