I just got a NETGEAR AC1200 Router. All the other devices(iphone, mac, other pc) can detect 5GHZ Wi-Fi, however, only my PC-Lenovo can't detect 5GHZ. But, it can dedect 2.5 GHZ. And also, the chromecast i just got would not detect 5GHZ Wi-Fi as well. I'm super uneducated on those stuff.
Problem with my laptop defecting my router NETGEAR AC1200 5GHZ?
So, is there a router model that support all the 5GHZ Wi-Fi? Before i move to my apartment, I was living in a house. I think i was be able to detect 5GHZ Wi-Fi. Do you think it will be a software problem at this point?
They don't support 5GHz. It's no big deal, use the ones it will work.
Your devices do not support 5 GHz.
Let me Explain,
Dual band routers have multiple wireless radios enabling broadcast on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands simultaneously. Using the 5 GHz band cuts down on interference from cordless phones and microwave ovens. Not all devices can use the 5 GHz frequency. Many laptops and other devices only operate at 2.4 GHz. Thus the need for dual band routers.
This is not a problem, you other devices will work just fine on 2.4 GHz, which typically has better range then 5 GHz.
