Should I get a Dell or Lenovo?

I'm stuck between a Lenovo Ideapad 510 and a Dell Inspiron 5000 gaming laptop. I'm not a heavy gamer, but I do some, and this Dell was the only model I could find that has what I need. Both laptops pretty similar specs, but for my job I'd have to spend extra on the Dell to buy an external cd/dvd player and external VGA port. I plan on also using Microsoft Office heavily, along with some basic video and photo editing, and would have a lot of programs to install.

The Lenovo already has the DVD player and VGA port and everything I would need, so no need to buy extra equipment. My main concern is that reviews say the casing is a cheaper plastic and I don't know how durable it is. The last thing I need is for my cat to knock over a book or something and break the casing. I can't try it out in person because every store I've looked at was either sold out or not carrying it, and would have to order it for me. The Dell Inspiron seemed pretty sturdy when I tried it out at a store, but I probably wouldn't need the level of gaming it was designed for.

Is there anyone with some experience with Lenovo, or with this Dell that could help me decide?

Dell. Lenovo sucks

What you write has nothing to do with brands because for most of the product lines, they are designed and produced by other companies, and Dell or Lenovo represent sales and service, and exact model numbers can collect review information.
Gaming is about graphics processor mostly.
If you want a useful answer, instead of a voting tally by a few people, list:
1) Why VGA? It is an analog output as opposed to the digital standard Audio-video HDMI. VGA is for old projectors and obsolete display-monitors. What are you plugging into?
2) Country for shopping.
3) Price range
4) If you have models in mind, get the entire model number.
Ideapad 510 and Inspiron 5000 are sets of many laptops.
Lenovo Thinkpads are durable. Dell Vostro is durable if they still sell them. You show consumer laptops.

I like Dell, Levono was bought by a Chinese company and quality went down a little.

Most of the Dell 5000 series this year have poor displays. The Ideapad 510 has a less-good GPU if you needed GPU power. Could ask on http://reddit.com/...stALaptop/

Dell and Lenovo are photo finish tied on being really good gamer PC devices.

However.

Which of the two offer the best PC / laptop protections AND the best warranty; go with your heart on that call.

Dell is the best one. Do not think buy it.

Dell.

Lonovo

I personally like apple, but I can see your point of view on how apple may be out of the budget. But if I were to choose out of those two models it would best be dell. It's a well trusted company and has high reviews on its laptops. Hope everything goes well.

Dell, i hear that Lenova had bad software install
