What is a good SSD for price and speed?

Hi, I'm going to buy a laptop (Lenovo Y410P) in the future, but I don't want to have a stock HDD as the primary. I'm going to switch to SSDs but I need help on what to choose which one. I did some research on some SSDs like the Samsung 840's and the Crucial M500's. The problem is they have their ups and downs in price and performance. I just don't know which one to choose. (I will use the stock HDD my laptop comes with as a secondary, as 1TB) I want a cheap SSD with moderate storage to store the OS and SOME programs. I'll put the rest on the secondary. Please help!

Thanks!

Added (1). Just need something that'll, again, store the OS and some programs and to speed up my start ups and programs.

Why not buy a external ssd

I believe the Samsung Evo is the best way to go on SSD's. Yes, you can shop around and find other drives with somewhat better price/performance. I think that what sets them apart is there reputation for reliability and the Samsung Magician software that comes with there SSD's. It allows you to tune the drives for speed or storage and can help you clone your old data to the new drive. It has other great features as well.

I recently bought a new desktop for work and gaming from WolfPack PC. They use the Samsung EVO as the primary drive on their systems. The bootup time into Windows 8.1 is very quick.
