I don't have a desktop so I use my laptop a lot. I use it for a really long time so I really want a good battery because with my past laptops even though I remove the battery from the laptop when I know I'm gonna be using it for a long time but when I bring my laptop elsewhere the battery could not even last for an hour and I use it only for power point presentations when I take it out. Also can you suggest a laptop that has the power to run the latest versions of Adobe Creative Suites and Sony Vegas. And can you specify what specs I need to consider in buying one because now that I'm having problems with my laptop I only realized how important specs are. Oh and if its possible can you suggest a laptop that will not be extremely heavy when you bring it? And I really much prefer a laptop with a 15 inch display if possible with a numeric keypad. Budget will be $1500 dollars.
What specific model of laptop should I get?
Get the cheapest new computer you can find with 8mb RAM, 400-500 dollars. It will run as well as a 1500 computer. Technology changes so rapidly, even a 1500 dollar computer is obsolete in a couple years. Then, in two or three years, buy a new one with the money you saved, because that will be about the time you will want a new one, even if you spend 1500 now.
However, I would pay a little more and buy this one with 12GB RAM and 1TB hard drive, with touch screen.

this has the longest battery life
Ultrabooks provide the longest battery life and the lightest weight.
Windows Laptop mfgs: Lenovo is number one followed by Asus, HP, Dell, and Samsung.
The bottom of the list from the bottom up: Sony, Acer/Gateway, Toshiba.
If you go to Newegg.com, Click Computers and Tablets, Ultrabooks and then go down the filters on the left, applying the ones which meet your criteria. They will give you a nice list of potential candidates from which to select. I would avoid Sony, Acer/Gateway, and Toshiba.
Purchasing a laptop is a highly personal decision. You need to decide what type of keyboard you want: do you want a full sized keyboard or are you okay with something smaller? Do you like or despise the chicklet keyboards like apple uses? Do you want a backlit keyboard? Do you want a numeric keypad? Do you want a touchpad and/or point stick? Do you want 2 mouse buttons or 3? Do you want them above or below the touchpad? How large a screen: 13"? 14"? 15.6"? 17"? If you are highly mobile, then smaller is lighter. If you don't move around much then bigger means heavier but a much more visible screen. These are all things to ponder which have a significant impact on how happy you are with your laptop experience.
