You are below the $430-440 price point of where laptops start to show quality. Do not be surprised that a lot of cheap laptops get issues in hardware.

Lenovo - 15.6" Laptop - 4GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive - Black
Model: G50 - 80E30130US ESSENTIALS series of basic quality. Bigger hdd than toshiba, A6-6310 score 2377 is MUCH faster. The R4 6310 graphics is a little better than HD 4000 so is also better graphics processor, same USB and ethernet. Has bluetooth, lower customer reviews, but they seem to expect more out of cheap laptops, ram can be upgraded, but known as 1 or 2 slot. The details are not shown for that laptop but appears to be a user accessible battery and RAM.
The Lenovo is far superior and faster. The guy at Best Buy was only looking at BestBuy customer reviews I guess, and that is very subjective in low priced laptops.
