Why is my laptop so slow?

I have a lenovo y700 laptop with i7 processor, 256 ssd 1 tb memory, 16 gb ram. Sometimes the computer is really fast but most of the time it's incredibly slow. I open up an excel document and then a word document and the "not responding" comes up everytime and I restart my computer several times for about 45 minutes. I have had this computer for about 7 months. It use to run really fast all the time. I don't have much installed and I just ran an Avast scan and have no viruses.

Download the program ccleaner and clean out the registry and internet cache. That should help a lot

Uninstall software you don't use on the computer.

Download "adwcleaner" software from google, run the software, restart the computer.

A laptop with those specifications should be pretty fast. The "not responding" error and having to repeatedly restart the computer is a concern and may Indicate a hardware problem. Initially contact the Lenovo website support section for your laptop and see if there are any maintenance/troubleshooting tools, otherwise cleaning the computer with ccleaner and malwarebytes antimalware (google it) may fix it. If no better I would be tempted to factory restore it to out of the box condition. If that doesn't fix it I would be tempted to contact Lenovo support as it should still be under warranty.

That computer should be pretty fast. It should still be under warranty. Contact the manufacturer and tell them what's going on. Maybe they will fix it for you. Or, maybe you need to reinstall Operating system. The manufacturer may provide you with a disc to do a fresh install to fix your errors. If its not under warranty Id say look up the error code. If its not a SSD problem then buy a copy of Windows 10 and do the fresh install yourself. Make sure you back up your files & make sure you have all the Product keys for your software before you do the fresh install.

Try resetting your laptop to its original factory settings. In the bottom search bar, look up "reset" & it will provide an option to reset the computer. Click that option & now it will tell you if you want to reset everything to original factory settings, BUT keep your files, or just completely wipe everything out and start fresh. I'd say to do a COMPLETE system reset but first, back up everything that is important for you on a portable drive, things like pictures, music, school documents, files that are important to you. Just remember to BACK UP YOUR IMPORTANT FILES. Hope this helps! I'm about to buy a Lenovo laptop myself

Its probraby slow because of old age, try getting a new laptop, or getting new hardware

I think you should format your computer. That's the best way to fix it.

Too much data on it
