Why does this happen to some laptops, tablets, and notebook-computers?

I have had different laptops, notebooks and tablets. And with some of them, the components inside, or certain components just "expand" and split the shell or outer casing of the laptop or tablet wide open. It is literally as if something exploded inside.
Hopefully the photo I attached is visible. One laptop (a Lenovo brand) is split open. It did NOT fall or was forced open. Whatever is inside just slowly expanded. The other one, (an Iview brand) is a smaller tablet I had it put away in a shoe box because it seemed to have a lot of quirks. It was slow and shut down at odd times. But weeks later when I opened the shoe box the tablet was completely enlarged and something inside that looks like a "bladder" was swollen and had split apart the front screen from the back of the tablet. I did not leave the tablet or laptop anywhere where they can get wet.
What causes this? Anyone know? Why does this happen to some laptops, tablets, and notebook-computers

Lithium batteries swell when they're damaged, whether it's a manufacturing defect or under/overcharging or something else that caused the damage.

Since pretty much all laptops, tablets, or other mobile devices use lithium batteries because of their high capacity to weight ratio, any mobile device can show this kind of issue.

If the swelling gets bad enough, it can catch on fire too.

I've never seen nor heard anything like this… It just looks like you dropped them… I don't believe this happened naturally.

The only thing that can swell in a laptop, tablet or phone is the battery. If the battery was hit by a surge or overcharged or has been damaged or has a manufacturing defect, there's a high chance of it swelling and eventually exploding.

In all the years I've been dealing with computers, laptops, tablets and cellphones, I've never heard of or encountered any device that swells on its own and is not caused by the battery. Electronic equipment is not made of rice. It does not just swell.

So your problem is the most unusual and unlikely problem to ever occur unless it's the battery that has caused the swelling or it is through negligence and misuse in which case it didn't swell, it broke open.

The battery percent on my laptop will not go pass 13% while plugged in. Also, when you unplug it, it turns completely off.
