What does it mean by DOS and linux?

I'm buying lenovo G510.
1.It has intel core i5
2.It has 4GB ram and;
3. DOS

DOS is short for Disk Operating System. Linux is a operating system environment that is typically for more advanced users but can be run by average consumers. I would suggest you take the time to research linux before buying this product as you can easily ruin it. Also Linux is usually not a OS itself but an environment that contains different flavors (versions) such as Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Redhat or Zorin. Hope this helps!

If you don't know what DOS is you don't want it. It's an old-fashioned operating system and not suitable for everyday computing nowadays. It still has specialist uses - a few years ago I used a laptop running DOS to connect to a piece of scientific equipment in the lab.

Linux is also an operating system. It has modernised and is suitable for everyday use, but bear in mind that it's not Windows. Don't expect it to be a free version of Windows and don't expect it to run programs written for Windows.
