How to transfer files windows xp to windows 7 via lan/Ethernet cable?

Hello i'm using lenovo laptop (windows 7) and p4 Desktop (windows xp). I want to share desktop's data with laptop using lan cable or ethernet cable.
mene iske bare kafi search kiya web or you tube par pr me connect nahi kr pa raha hu.

please reply me step by step in details.

If you are using the same router then you will not need to use a cable. Use windows to make a homegroup on your router via the network capabilities in windows. Then you can share files to your hearts content It is easier than you think
