Originally I had McAfee Antivirus on a Lenovo computer, now I have an HP and the free trial is over so I was going to add this computer onto my subscription but it won't download and keeps telling me it's a problem. I can't uninstall from my Lenovo because it no longer turns on, and there doesn't appear to be an option on the McAfee account/products page.

Try forcing your unwanted McAfee Antivirus to remove via an uninstall tool if all the traditional measures fail to work around the uninstall problem.

If you have a new HP laptop with Windows 8.1, forget McAee and use the built-in AV instead. Offers perfect protection, just make sure it's activated, AND the Firewall. In new 8.1 HPs they're both activated by default.

Proper Uninstall McAfee by using revo uninstall then restart your computer. Now try to install your McAfee once again.

Try after restarting the system. If the problem still occurs try uninstalling by restarting the laptop in safe mode. This will work. Once uninstalled. Restart in normal mode and install.

Honestly, you really should't install Mcafee on any computer. I rate it the worst AV ever. Even AVG is better. And AVG is the worst free AV. So. Please get either kaspersky or Eset… Kaspersky is only 20 bucks/yr. It's well worth it.
