Should i build a gaming pc or buy a desktop?

I'm going to buy a new desktop basically gonna make a gaming set up (new desk, monitors for my xbox one and ps4 etc.)

now i was just gonna buy a desktop from bestbuy either a hp or lenovo but bunch of my friends say build your own gaming pc. Now, i don't really play games on pc i just want a very good performing desktop.

600-700 is what i'm willing to spend and i want to know should i buy a desktop or build one?

would a gaming pc perfom better than a desktop that i would buy at best buy?

Pre built computers are generally cheaper, but its because there are cheaper quality parts, and parts that don't run as fast as its counterparts you can buy separately. However, if you are going to use it for basic computing and fairly simple gaming, at a budget, I would go with one of these.

Building your own computer, you can pick your own parts, at whatever price (so to speak). Although the price of building your own computer has significantly come down in the last decade or so, it's still cheaper to buy a ready to go out of the box pre built one. If you were going to get one for more high end gaming, I would go with building your own, since you know you won't get skimped out of parts that you might need. But it generally cost more. Also, If you build your own, there's no support on the computer as a whole, so if something goes wrong, you ll need to narrow down which part is giving you the problem and seek support from there.

I wouldn t buy anything from best buy. Everything is overpriced. You should try Frys, or online such as.Frys, or newegg, tigerdirect, etc.

Why would you consider buying from BB? Even Costco will beat them.

Buy one
If you have to ask then you're better off buying

Nothing you get at Best Buy is going to get you what you want. Building your own is almost always preferred to buying a pre-built system. First and foremost, you get Way more for the money. If you have a $700 budget, you would be able to build a much more powerful system than you would get by buying a $70 0pre-built one. Also, you get to chose what components you use. While some pre-built PC manufacturers offer a bit of choice, it is nowhere near as much as choice as building your own. Plus a recent trend I have seen with companies that sell pre-built gaming PCs is cramming completely unnecessary octo-core processors in underpowered systems that will never take advantage of that much processing power, and then slapping a huge price tag on top of all of it. For $600-$700 you could build yourself a PC that if fully capable of playing any video game at at least medium/medium-high settings at 1080p and 60fps. Do some research and pick out the parts you want. Websites like pcpartpicker.com can help you from start to finish and even compare prices. As far as building the PC goes, there are tons of videos online that give complete instructions on how to build a computer. I recommend Carey Holzman at youtube.com/careyholzman as he does great build videos which are especially helpful for beginners.
