I have a budget of about $500-600. Things I use the computer for are forums, listening to music, reading and MapleStory. As you can tell, I'm not a gamer.
Should I get a desktop or laptop?

I don't know you only need a laptop if you go a lot of places, but most phones have Internet access anymore anyway.
I've only bought laptops the whole time I've bought computers, but if I were to own a good house I would buy a good desktop.

If you don't game and need it to be portable I would say laptop, if you decide that you want to do more advanced tasks then I would say a PC.
But for your needs by all means buy a laptop.
