I live in Las Vegas, worked for IBM and then Lenovo, and did go into CES a few times.
The free admission date for application has ended. There are now fees. You also have the travel cost, hotel and meals. The hotels are near peak rate for CES week.
To check into the hotels is 18+, and to the casino-hotels is generally 21+ for age. There may be a minimum age to attend. It isn't a comic book show allowing anyone. I do not believe they ask for an age at registration, but I do forget one way or the other. I see MKBHD (Marques Brownlee) did attend last year and could return this year. Born: December 3, 1993 so January 2014 was 20 years old.
This says it was 16 years old minimum a few years ago:
They removed the age reference since it is not a legal requirement, but you would need a state issued picture ID and should ask them at an assistance phone number or send a request.
Main site is here:
http://www.cesweb.org/
There are attendees, exhibitors, press/industry analysts, and delegation leaders.
I met someone who wrote for a gaming web site that attended as "Press/industry analysts" if I remember right.
The term "electronics field" is a very broad one. You basically register at the web site in a category and show a justification of how you are in the field.
You can look into it further, but I'm thinking you will have to wait at least until 16 and travel with someone 18 years old.
I was in the industry and will meet with a couple of people coming in this year, but didn't arrange to attend the show.
You can start planning for next year or the year after. You will need someone at least 18 to travel with just to have a hotel room and hotels near the show get to over $200 a night, though you can take a bus or taxi from hotels further away that cost much less.
