I'm on my computer (a Windows 8 Lenovo touchscreen, if that helps) and I thought that "Moving And Replacing" files of the same name would keep both files but, apparently I just lost half of my pictures and they're gone now. Does anyone know how to get my pictures back?

- Undo the move by right clicking
- Check the recycle bin for the files
- Perform a system restore. All programs -> accessories\system management, or search for system restore using search functions.
- download a program such as "recurva" is probably the best free to use.
To improve chances:
- do so as soon as possible.
- avoiding saving or creating new files, especially in either location.
- do not power off the device.
It's pretty simple to get files back, depending on the complexity you went to to delete them.

You can try and use a system restore to a time before you made this error.
