I just had my hard drive replaced by the manufacturer of my laptop (it's a Lenovo y500 if that makes a difference). When I got the laptop, it came with Microsoft Office 2013, but now it doesn't have that software anywhere that I can see. It still has all the other programs that came with the laptop originally though. Is there a way I can get office for free again without using torrents or anything of that nature? My laptop is still under warranty (once again, I don't know if that really makes any difference to the situation).
How to get Microsoft Office back?
Did you ask the people who fixed it to add Office?
Generally, you should backup your softwares before you replace the hard drive.Otherwise, you will lose the data. Now you can try to get help by calling Ms Office. Hope you can get it back. Or you could try some free office softwares. For example, Kingsoft Office is similar to Ms Office and it supports all kinds of Ms files. You can use it as an alternative. Here is the address: http://www.ksosoft.com/product/office-free
You can call the manufacturer back and ask them about the software. However, unless you bought the software, it was only a free trial anyway that expires. But if you bought the software, then you should have a software disk there that came with the laptop. So if you bought Office 2013, and don't have the software disk, then you need to call the manufacturer and tell them so that they can send it to you.
The software is not free… Except as a 90 day free trial. So either Lenovo owes you a disk, or you need to buy the software (if you want it), or you're going to have to consider other alternatives that are in your financial means. Those options are (1) Microsoft provides the software online for free, unlimited use. All you need is to create yourself a microsoft account to log in and use it. Or (2) you can use a generic version of Office. The best out there's Libre Office. It will edit or create any Word, Excel, Powerpoint or Access file. That is here: http://www.libreoffice.org
