I have looked at some reviews similar to the HP envy model you are looking at (they are the same build, just different specs ex: Ram, processor, graphics card; it's stability should be around the same around all models throughout). There's a general concenses that most of the screens on HP envy models are pretty poorly made because they are hard to see outside and have ok viewing angles. I have also heard the trackpad was bad, there was some bloatware (wildtangent games, antivirus trials, etc. That can be removed easily), and has been known to break (at least for some users; check the amazon reviews to see what I mean). Although it has an incredible graphics card and comes pretty cheap.
So in general, HP isn't exactly a scamming company, they are a bit harder to trust when it comes to product reliability in the future than other companies. I have had an HP laptop in the 2010s that lasted about a year and a half before it became unusable due to a screen issue. On the other hand I have an HP desktop that still works fine after using it since 2008. I also have a friends who uses an HP envy who has had no trouble with it (although keep in mind she doesn't use it for rigorous tasks). So i'd say a purchase from HP is pretty iffy. I think you are better off with a lenovo laptop. The Y series laptops are incredible for their price and very upgradable.
