I recently bought a laptop (Lenovo w510), a secondhand one and it was newly formatted. I was wondering if there's/are way/s to retrieve installed software like MS office etc.

No way to retrieve it once formated, but you can re-install it if you have the disks.
If not, you can download Open Office or Libre Office from the net for free. Libre Office has become very popular.

Only if it has a license! You can get all the original softwares that came with your computer for free off the lenovo site
Ms office may come installed but unless there's a sticker on the laptop or under the battery you must still pay to activate it!

You can't recover the formatted software. Get new software setup to install it. If you are own an iOS or Android device do install Leo Privacy Guard to make your device totally secure.
