ASUS ROG series laptop? How to check latest version?

On black friday this month, i will be buying a gaming laptop from asus. I'm having trouble picking one…
As some of you noticed, there are many series for ROG laptops.
I don't want to pay my money for laptops that were released few years ago…
So my question is that, how do i know when was the laptop released and what is the alphabet means? Like JY, VW, etc…
Anyone like to recommend me a rog series laptop that are latest?
Thank you and I'll pock the best answer as soon as possible!

Thank you and I'll pock the best answer as soon as possible! Don't worry so much about that, but the release date of the graphics processor is a good indicator.
Graphics performance:

Also some available at notebookcheck.

Ignore "list" or "reference" prices, or the "discount".
Use the actual selling price and the laptop performance.

For cpus,
Brand new release Core i5-6300HQ @ 2.30GHz 5503
but, older Core i7-4700MQ @ 2.40GHz score 7767 is better.
Newer series are better in battery power and heat.

Also, Asus ratings of quality have dropped in general.
The MSI and Gigabyte systems have improved.
At similar prices and specs, give Acer, Lenovo, Dell, HP a lower rating.

If the laptops or similar ones are sold at Newegg or Amazon, there are often detailed feedback reviews. So, you are saying that I should check the latest processor or graphics to look when was laptop released?
