BIOS / System Password? (Thinkpad T440)?

I just brought a second hand Lenovo Thinkpad T440, the first problem was having a faulty HDD which I need to still replace, but one of the screws on the bottom of the laptop is completely rounded so currently can't access the internals. The second problem is I can't access the BIOS due to the system having a password which I don't know, will removing the CMOS battery for a couple of minutes remove the password so I can access the PC once I've replaced the HDD?

For the screw, but a very small screw extractor or a reverse twist drill bit. Either will bit into the screw (they are run counter clockwise) and back the screw out.

For the bios, you need to look online for the bios reset jump on the motherboard. Or unplug the motherboard battery for a few hours. Then plug it back in and start it up. The memory will be cleared.
