Can I get an external graphics card for my laptop?

I have a Sony Vaio E Series laptop (SVE15128CXS) that has a Core i7 processor and Nvidia 4000HD graphics card. I think the graphics card is on board. Anyway my current graphics card can barely run games on low to medium settings. I want to know if it is possible to attach external graphics cards so that my laptop can work decently on at least medium settings. If it is possible which graphics card would you recommend for a cheap or moderate price?

Unfortunately, you do not have a gaming laptop and can't turn it into one.
It has a 3rd gen i7-3632QM strong quad core, plenty of ram, Nice size hdd, but graphics is INTEL Integrated HD 4000 as part of the CPU. NVidia is not involved.
Graphics cards are possible when there's an external PCI slot which your laptop does not have, and at that, they are only partially effective and very expensive to set up.
That laptop was not for gaming, and never will be.
In this very slow loading high data table:

HD 4000 is at rank #318
Correct as low to medium
Gaming on PC is generally for tower PCs. There are gaming laptops at lower performance than towers.
Lenovo Y50 is an example, but they used a disappointing display that can be changed for about $100.
Wait for your next PC. No upgrading is possible.
You might get small improvement by Iobit Razer Game Booster software
