Can my data be recovered?

So, unfortunately, my Lenovo laptop had a little drop - maybe about a foot - as it was starting up. When I tried to turn it back on after dropping it I get the message, "Default Boot Device Missing or boot Failed. Insert Recovery Media and Hit any key. Then select 'Boot Manager' to choose a new boot device or to Boot Recovery Media." But after following the instructions, nothing works and I'm forced to restart and start all over. Also, there was this steady beeping sound coming from the computer whenever it was on.

When I took it in they said that this generally means the hard drive failed. So they said they would send it off and see what they could do to get it working again.

I was wondering what the odds are that my data can be recovered? I have some VERY important documents on there that I need more than anything and, like an idiot, I never got around to backing them up. So what do you think the odds are that I will be able to get them back? Is my hard drive completely ruined now, or did it simply disconnect? All I really need is the ability to get those documents back…

First thing is to open your computer and see if the drive is properly seated. If it is, remove the drive and connect it to another computer using an external drive caddy or by installing it in a desktop. See if you can access the drive. If you can, then it looks like the connection in your laptop for the SATA drive is damaged and you probably need a new motherboard… If you can't access the drive then it looks like the only way to recover the data is a data recovery service. Sorry, but hopefully it won't go that way.

Dear friend it sounds like whether BIOS or the boot drive.
Have you done followings? Or try to do this!

1. Can you go in BIOS setup menu?
If no, contact Lenovo warranty support to ask help or reurn and replace.
2. In BIOS setup, set BIOS configuration to "Default BIOS setting" then "save and exit." Then system will start booting.
If still it is not successful, check next.
3. In BIOS setup, change boot device order and put CD/DVD drive as first boot device, then "save and exit. Then
system will start booting, but this time, the booting will be failed. Put a bootable CD/DVD media in the CD/DVD
drive and then power off and on.
If still it is not successful, contact Lenovo warranty support to ask help or reurn and replace.
4. In BIOS setup, change boot device order and put your internal HDD(or SSD) as first boot device, then "save and
exit. Then system will start booting.
If still it is not successful, something wrong on your internal HDD(or SSD), so contact Lenovo warranty support to
ask help or reurn and replace.

If yours is UEFI instead of BIOS, do this just before step 3.
In BIOS setup, set "Secure boot" to "Disable" and set "UEFI/Legacy priority" to "Legacy first."

I strongly recommend you this application that help to recover and restore data from any system fault…
