Does charging your laptop typically affect the performance?

I don't know much about computers, but my friends had recommended the lenovo ideapad y510p for gaming purposes to fit my budget and it runs pretty well; although, when I don't have it plugged in, it severely affects its performance. I can't run any games at any graphics or resolution without it lagging at least a bit, even terraria lags. I'm wondering if this happens with some laptops or if I should call up the manufacturer.

Bought it from newegg:

If not mistaken that laptop has a slot to add a graphic card to it, battery power decrease while gaming no matter what power option setting you use causes the game to lagg, the best thing when gaming is to plug it in while gaming as one answer said the performance is better while gaming

Well, with your laptop pluged in you will get better, and faster games cuz when its unplugged it enters some power saving thing and it saves power by slowing games. Plug it in!

No, Charger simply charge your system, there's nothing to affect the system performance.

I think it's the chargers fault… I always have my charger plugged into my laptop while I play games. My laptop isn't even a laptop made for gaming but i can play team fortress 2 full screen with only slight lag at the beginning (the lagging dies out after a few minutes). Removing the charger hasn't really shown a noticeable improvement in fps for me so I would say it's probably your chargers fault
