Having trouble deciding on a laptop for school?

I'm going into Mechanical Engineering this fall, and need a new laptop (my current one is 4 years old and slow). To run programs like AutoCAD and Solidworks, it has been recommended that I get an i7 processor. This laptop would be used for some gaming, photoshop, along with typical school activities.

I'm trying to decide between these two Lenovo laptops, since I like the brand and have heard that it is reliable. Any thoughts on what to do here? Also, I'm Canadian (lots of links posted here are US only).

Added (1). I should mention that I'm not going to consider any apple products.

I have a mac and they are very good for working and writing and business, my brother has a windows laptop and they are very high tech and but they are more meant for gaming but you can still type with them. So if you want like a typing/business computer i would get a macbook pro!

Both are basically the same except the graphics chips. I suggest you dig up more user reviews and see which is less problematic or more compatible with the games and software that you will use.
