I have a Lenovo laptop, and I got it, I believe the summer of 2012, at bestbuy, where this version was only found. When I got it, it suggested that if I keep it plugged in most of the day, essentially not using the laptop function, I should lower the battery maximum to 60%, so it never charges the whole thing. I'm not sure if that actually helped or not, but now I want that other 40%. How do I do it?
How to fix my computer battery?
I think it need replacement although you can try some of below tricks (This might be strange but worked even with mine too. If you don't believe on me then you can use the below link for reference since the same info is available there)
1 Put the laptop battery in a sealed plastic bag.
2.Put the bagged battery in the freezer for about 12 hours.
3.Take the bag out of the freezer, and let the battery warm up to room temperature, drying it occasionally with a towel if it appears damp.
4. Put the battery back into your laptop.
5. Charge the battery as much as possible, then leave the laptop on in order discharge it completely. Repeat this step 3-4 times.
6. Your formerly-dead battery should now be much more usable, if not totally restored.
If this does not work, call a Lenovo rep(which I did in my case after the above did not work) and tell him/her the whole scene and she'll collect info regarding you battery(like serial no, fru number) and if it is under warranty, he/she will send you a brand new battery. The process takes less than 5 minutes after you are connected to the rep. I got my new battery in 2 business days along with a return label for the old defective battery.
