How to remove bottleneck on my laptop?

How can I remove the bottle neck on my laptop? Can someone walk me through the steps so I can play more video games?

Lenovo u410 ideapad (not touch)

CPU: Intel i5 3317U @ 1.70 GHz
GPU: Nvidia GTX 610m(obile)
Ram: 8 GB

Grammar: "so I can play more video games?" > "so I can play video games better?"

You're obviously new to the concept, it's not something you can just whisk away. It's really hard to actually determine where the bottlenecks lie with your CPU and GPU listed above because they're both quite good, you can only really determine a bottleneck by testing different CPU and GPU configurations, but since you're on a laptop you can't really do that.

The only thing you can do really is to optimize Windows, you hit the Windows Key (Marked by the Windows Logo), type in Windows Features, disable literally everything except Windows Search and that's it. You can also remove background processes that you don't use anymore by opening the little tray that's indicated by the north-facing arrow in the bottom-right of the Menu Bar on the desktop.

The only hardware that you can change on most laptops is the hard drive and you can add RAM. Everything else including the CPU and the GPU are soldered onto the motherboard and can't be changed.

In your case, I do not think adding RAM will help.

The bottleneck is the GPU.
The 610m is a very basic "desktop graphics" device, suitable for word processing & web browsing etc., and very little beyond that.

Unfortunately, the only way to replace a laptop GPU is to replace the laptop…

Look at older games from the GOG site etc. - anything over five years or so old should have a reasonable chance of working OK.

There are plenty of older games that are well worth playing - Half Life 2, Quake 2, System Shock 2 etc.
They are also a lot cheaper than the latest ones.

(They are on offer on steam at the moment - less than £2 / $3 each).
