My hard drive failed (Error 2100, main HDD) and the F11 key for restoring won't work. It just sends me back to the options menu after trying to restore. Can I restore or just wipe my computer back to factory settings from the startup? I'm very frustrated, I'd like to recover everything on my HDD, but if I can't, I just need to reset everything so I can use a computer again. What can I do?
How to restore Lenovo Thinkpad to factory setttings?
Did you already tried out the Lenovo software fix (… Even your HDD is not listed) for your harddisk?
To all users with: lenovo T61error 2100: HDD0(hard disk drive),
Possible cause:
Corrupted hard disk logical sectror/hard disk logical error (bad format).
Hard disk connector not well in place.
Hard disk broken, physical fault.
Solutions:
Format hard disk and reinstall system using a Windows setup CD.
If that does not work the Hard disk must be removed to check thge connector, and to test the hard disk on a different computer.
If the hard disk is bad, it must be replaced, and windows reinstalled repeating step one.
Try setting the restore disk and drive as boot. Should work.
setting it is the trick, try booting as a webdeveloper, try f12 see if you can modify boot order, try f2 and see if you can configure it to happen in cmos, THere are a few ways you can do it.
Thanks for your help. I'm on the ThinkPad Setup screen after clicking F12. I'm on the Startup tab trying to find what you were saying. How, and what do I change about the boot order? Current: Network Boot: PCI LAN: Realtek UEFI/Legacy Boot: Both Boot Mode: Quick Boot Order Lock: Disabled
