I have a Lenovo Thinkpad W540 and after windows 8.1 was downloaded, my audio does not work?

Added (1). The icon at the bottom of the page is xed out, when i click it to see what the problem is, it tells me that either or both of the windows audio/windows audio endpoint are not enabled. I checked to make sure both were running and enabled and i even checked to make sure their dependencies were up. All were enabled and running except for the windows audio. It would not let me start it. I have been searching all day for an answer and still nothing.

Probably just need the drivers updated. Thinkpads have a special automatic service

Not sure why you want Windows 8. It is terrible, and I used Classicshell.net to bring the use back to 7, and changed all the "apps" to open in Windows instead of full screen.
8 in general is a PIA.
