Okay so here's exactly what happened:
My mother had told my brother and I to turn off the Internet router because someone was accessing our network and she wanted them to stop so they couldn't access our stuff.
I said: "don't do that-- I can change our password."
So after a few minutes of research I figured out how to change it.
I went on the site Netgear told me to, entered in my information, changed my password, and as it said it would, Internet disconnected from all devices. I logged back in on my phone with the new password-- it's perfect. Smooth as hot butter. But my computer for some reason will not let me enter in the new security code. It's a Lenovo-- it runs on windows, I don't know what version, but every time I click "connect," it just asks me to troubleshoot, I troubleshoot, then it tells me windows can't solve my problem. I just need to get to where I can enter a password-- I know what's wrong but the computer can't seem to figure it out.

I've clicked "disconnect," or "cancel," when it couldn't figure out what was wrong and I couldn't access Internet, I'm out of ideas.
Can someone please help me?
Internet works on phone but not laptop?
Have you gone in to control panel > internet options and clicked the connections tab? You might need to set up the connection there or modify it to accept the new password.
If you know the routers IP address you could try to 'Ping' the connect to see if it is receiving any signals from it
either press and hold the Windows button and press R
or just go in to start and search command prompt
Type: IPconfig
this brings up some information about your connection, when you find the "Default Gateway" IP address. Type:
ping ""Default Gateway" IP address" <-- don't type the words i used it will be a number like xxx.xxx.x.x
If you receive all packets of information you have a connection!
and no more Error 404!
You should make a call (it says the phone number in the Wi-Fi box) and tell them that you change your password and that when you tried logging back in your computer it said "Trouble shooting" but it was successful when you connected with the other devices.
Try hitting add new and then type in the name and password all that fun stuff maybe that will fix it… Basically put the connection back on your computer
