Laptop fails after window logo during boot up?

I have a lenovo z570 ideapad and just like most people i got the windows 10 update. I was working on it really late at night and i fell asleep without shutting down the computer. This isn't the first time i've done that but normally i just wake it up from sleep mode and resume. This time i noticed my laptop was being extremely slow even though i only had just 2 programs open. So i decided to log off and restart it. Now my computer doesn't boot up normally. I see the lenovo logo followed by the windows logo but that's it it freezes or something. I don't see my log in screen.

i really hope you can tell me steps to let me do this on my own instead of taking it to a repair shop because i need it to finish my work! I tried the F8 thing too but it doesn't work. I hope you can at least point me in the right direction.

The windows F8 thing was removed in windows 10. The delay may merely be that updates are running. You can easily tell whether a pc has locked up or if it is processing by looking at the hard drive light for activity. Do not restart or try to fix a pc that is in the middle of updating or running scans such as check disk. Power it up and if the hard drivew light is flashing a random pattern as it will do if a program is running, leave it alone overnight. Did you schedule updates after the upgrade? You have not yet learned the behavior of Win 10. Did you set sleep mode and screen savers after the upgrade? There are several Win 10 recovery tutorials available to watch instead of trying to follow someone here. Microsoft has official write ups on line and youtube has videos, if it turns out that you need to run recovery/restore routines.

Try removing the battery and cord take out the ram put it back in and restart!

Try that first
