They are logitech G430 s (usb) but appear to work fine when I plug them in to my phone, it's not the usb slot as I tried it with my mouse and it worked. I don't know what's going on I also tried a pair of earphones that work on my phone in the headphone jacks and that wouldnt work either/ I'm running windows 10 and my laptop is a Lenovo y510p
My laptop won't pick up my headset?

The first step to a fix is to verify that the audio adapter is working by viewing in device manager. If you upgraded to 10 and audio stopped working, you will need to go to the audio device support webpage to download the driver for Win 10.
Next, go to sound in the control panel and open it and select your audio device to be the default device, A USB audio device will not be the default. You will have to select it from the list. The internal speakers are the default unless you re-assign the headset to be the default. Since this is easy to look at- ( on Windows 7, you can right click the speaker icon on the desktop to see properties) and maybe Win 10 also does ) check it out first before doing the driver thing.
