My windows 8 levono laptop won't boot up?

My laptop was working fine but then suddenly, a window popped up saying "windows encountered an error and needs to restart". Ever since I've restarted it, it hasn't been booting up. At first it would just freeze at the levono load screen, but now it will just display a black screen and then at some point, shut down. I've tried every option I've had. I tried System restore, Safe mode, Bios setup and all it does is just freeze at that black screen. I also have a lot of really important files on that computer that I can't replace. What do I do? How can I get my files back?

You need to take the hard drive out of the laptop and put it in an external drive caddy (Newegg carries them for as little as $12). You can then attach the drive to another computer and copy all of your data over. Then, return the drive to the laptop and follow Lenovo's instructions to perform a factory restore. If you didn't make the Factory Restore DVDs when you got the laptop, after Windows is back up and working you should do that. That way if your hard drive fails you have a way to recover.

Once the restore is done, the first thing you do is install your AV program and then run Windows Update repeatedly until there are no more updates. Next, go to Lenovo's site and download the latest versions of all the drivers (if you want, you could do this from another computer while yours is going through the restore and just put them on a flash drive.) Be sure to get the latest version of the BIOS as well.

Install the drivers and software updates and then install your 3rd party software. Now you are ready to copy the data back to the laptop whether by network connection, flash drive or reconnecting the hard drive to the other computer using the external drive caddy.

Put that hard drive into a USB external enclosure, and then copy the files off onto another computer.

Yeah sometimes when you boot it they can take a long time try giving it a long time to start up. It might be checking memory or hardrive. If you manage it back to a working state, try a virus scan and possibly take it to a professonal.
