Normal solution won't work for headphone jack?

I have a Lenovo laptop, and for months the headphone jack hasn't been producing any sound. I have tried the common methods of going into control panel, then sound, etc, but nothing has worked so far. When I plug my headphones in, it stills displays them as not plugged in, therefore I'm unable to test them or set them as the default device. If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate, thanks!

Did you try another set of headphones?

Is it a "headphones" jack or a "headset" jack? Look the same but inside they are different.
Also might be broken from sideways yanking.

Test to see if it's damaged hardware by live booting Linux if it runs under Linux you know to uninstall the soundcard and delete the driver restart and reinstall it off the Lenovo site if it's damaged hardware take it in for a solder job
