Problem with Headphone Jack?

I have a lenovo X1 carbon running windows 8 and it is a 64 bit operating system. The problem I'm having is that the headphone port is not working, I tried plugging in two different headphones in and neither work. The computer is using its speakers instead of the headphone. The only listed playback device is Speakers/Hp even when the headphones are connected.

What should I do to fix this problem? Thanks in advance

Added (1). Also, the laptop was not dropped or physically harmed in any way, so I highly doubt it is a hardware problem, but what do I know.

1) Make sure that you have the right sound drivers installed. The wrong drivers might make your laptop think that there isn't a headphone jack.

2) If you're still under warranty, see if Lenovo can help you test the hardware. Just because you didn't break it doesn't mean it isn't broken.

There's no way around it the head phone jack port needs to be replace
