NVidia Geforce Experience game-optimization?

So I have GTA V and all… And of course it has its recommended settings when you open the game. However, when I use the nvidia game optimzation tools, it sends the settings way past the limit -Even though it still runs with at least 45fps with those high settings, and goes as high as 72fps. I'm just concerned; am I over-working my laptop? Should I turn it back down to recommended settings? I'd hate for it to over-heat.

Optimization tool gives the "optimum" settings regardless of other factors like cooling available. You should be careful of laptop hardware.
You can run an external fan box (about $10) from USB power strip, and a laptop cooling pad to increase air flow. Or you can dial back the performance to what you tolerate and run cooler.

When you play any game your computer will be running at max unless there's a fps limiter.

say you limit your laptop to play the game at 60fps and your getting lower than 60fps at that moment you laptop is running as hard as it can to try and get 60fps.

however if your laptop is getting over 60fps and you limited it to 60 then your laptop isn't running at max. The only problem you can get from running at max would be heat just watch the temp of the laptop while you are playing and if it gets about 50c then you should stop playing until it cools down.

my laptop overheated to 50c all the time but when i wired a old desktop fan to a AA battery and put it under my laptop it was getting a cold 30c. If you do start having problems with heat get a cooling pad it should work much better than my "getto heat fix"
